An outdoor LED screen is a weatherproof, high-brightness digital display designed to work in harsh outside conditions. Unlike interior LED screens, which are calibrated for controlled ambient settings at 800 to 2,000 nits, outdoor LED displays must emit 6,500 to 10,000 nits of brightness in order to be readily visible in direct sunshine. They are contained in IP65 or IP66-rated enclosures that prevent water ingress and dust penetration, and they are thermally built to dissipate heat created by the LED modules as well as exterior temperatures, which can reach 48-50°C in the UAE during the summer.
Outdoor LED screens employ a modular cabinet system, with separate weatherproof panels assembled to produce displays of any size, from a 2×1-metre retail storefront screen to a 20×8-metre highway billboard. This modularity means that individual failing panels can be changed without rebuilding the entire installation, which is crucial for 24/7 commercial operations in the UAE.
